Kalsang studied journalism at the Faculty of journalism and communications, MS university of Baroda, in 1999. He spent 2 years studying journalism and submitted a dissertation thesis on “Tibetan media with reference to major Tibetan websites”. After finishing his studies, he joined the Department of Information and International Relations of the Tibetan government in exile as the editor of the official website of the Tibetan government in exile in 2001. In 2006, Kalsang got 2-year scholarship under the US government’s Tibetan Scholarship Programme. He finished his MFA in Film and Video Production in 2008, and as part of his degree, he submitted a documentary film “Phantoms of Chittagong” about Establishment 22, or the Special Frontier Force, a paramilitary force comprising of Tibetan refugee recruits that India started in 1962. I am an Italy-born freelance multimedia journalist based in Brooklyn, NY. I've covered various national stories for Fusion TV and the Juvenile Justice Information Exchange, shooting and editing video news stories and short documentaries. I covered the Dakota Access Pipeline controversy in 2016, self-producing an award winning 16-minute documentary. I covered the construction of the southern leg of the same pipeline in the swamps of Louisiana, shooting and editing a short documentary for Fusion TV. I covered many Black Lives Matter protests around the country. I produced video stories following the acquittal of officers involved in Freddie Gray's death. Alberto Ferreras is a writer and filmmaker known for his award winning novel “B as in Beauty”—published in the U.S. Spain, and Italy—, and for “Habla”, a 14-part documentary series created for HBO Latino in 2003. He is also one of the creators of “El Perro y el Gato”, a bilingual children’s animated show for HBO Family, and “Madres y Comadres” the first web-novela produced by Kmart for the Hispanic market of the U.S.
