Sona Simonyan was born in Gyumri, Armenia. She has studied journalism at Yerevan State Linguistic university after V. Brusov. Afterwards got her master's degree at Georgian Institute of public affairs, where she put her first steps on documentary filmmaking and video editing. Hovhannes, a writer, a journalist, and a documentary filmmaker, was born in Yerevan, in 1988. He worked at “Ankakh”, “Yerkir” and “Aravot” newspapers and PINK Armenia human rights NGO. After graduating from the Georgian Institute of Public affairs, besides creating journalistic pieces, he also works on documentary films. I started as a TV news reporter. Later I freelanced to local and regional platforms as a multimedia journalist. I initiated ‘On the scene’ at Media.am, a series of short documentaries portraying journalists covering demonstrations. Together with my friend, we produced our first film, ‘How to Cross (from Jiliz to Jiliz)’ that premiered at the Hot Docs film festival. We filmed our second documentary ‘Murat’ in Istanbul.
