About
Aslihan is an independent writer-director-producer based in NYC and Istanbul. She received her BA in IR and Photography from Yale. She received her MFA in film from NYU. Her award winning short film RAZAN premiered at the Rotterdam FF in 2006 and went on to screen at dozens of festivals. Aslihan has written three scripts: FLORENCE B., winner of a Sloan Foundation Feature Writing Grant in 2007, GATED a selection to Berlinale Script Station and Thessaloniki FF Crossroads in 2010, and G.E.Z.I., a finalist for the SFFS/KRF Grant and Hubert Bals Fund in 2013.
OVERDRIVE:ISTANBUL IN THE NEW MILLENNIUM, Aslihan’s first feature documentary examining the environmental and social challenges of uncontrolled urbanization, premiered at the Istanbul FF in April 2011 and was screened in NYC, Washington DC, Toronto, Mexico City, Sao Paolo, Brussels, Vienna etc.
She is currently filming her feature documentary providing an intimate look into the dangerous lives of young Syrian activists from Aleppo.
