About
My name is Toni and I'm a Kenyan based factual producer. After receiving TV and film production training at the Mohamed Amin Foundation, I won the Kenyan Kalasha award for best documentary in 2008. My first job was working as the producer the pioneering human rights TV Show, HATUA TV Talk Show. HATUA was sponsored by OSIEA and was one of the first TV talk shows in Kenya to discuss homosexuality on prime TV in 2008/9.
I have produced reality style documentaries for broadcast on BBC-World and MTV Europe. Recently worked as director and producer for “Silicon Safari documentary”, for broadcast on Al Jazeera in late 2013 – the documentary follows the progress of Nairobi based app developers on a mission to develop an agriculture-based app, in seven days.
I was the creator and series producer of the human-interest documentary series, “From here to Timbuktu”, commissioned by one of Africa’s cable channels for broadcast in late 2013. I'm currently in development for a TV series on youth subculture, for a Pan African channel.
My strengths lie in finding compelling real life people with powerful stories to tell, and creating teams to produce engaging content around these characters.
