This is an in-depth documentary about two schools, on the brink of disappearing, and the ragged determination of their children and teachers to hang on, long after the law that should be protecting them abandoned them. They are shouting back a slogan to those that would dare interfere with their dreams – a slogan that this story has borrowed its title from. Not my school.
A severe dry spell in Kenya’s northern rangelands is rapidly consuming the livelihoods of inhabitants as natural resources become scarcer. This has resulted into frequent deadly conflicts amongst pastoralist communities. In this first episode of The End of the River we show how the drying up of the heavily relied upon Ewaso Ng’iro River has affected the residents.
