About
I am Ramiro Aguilar Villamarín (Quito, Ecuador – 1985), visual anthropologist, social communicator and journalist, specialized in video and photography. Since 2014 I have worked as a videographer, photographer and reporter for national media and Hispanic-American digital portals, summing up numerous published works.
By 2020 I am about to complete my master’s degree in research in visual anthropology where I have developed debates and works (written, photographic and audiovisual) on photography, cinema, memory, history, cultures, indigenous peoples and Amazonia. In addition to these topics, in my work I have approached the struggle of workers, social movements, human rights and migrations.
My work and approach to the field of image and audiovisual, both in form and content, is based on strict humanitarian ethical principles. I seek to make evident the value or re-value the cases or human groups that I portrait, opposing any victimizing or discriminatory treatment nor approach. As well, I position myself critically on the traditional representations of minorities, excluded or marginalized groups.
I am currently available for assignments mainly in the documentary field.
