Ion Gnatiuc is a documentary film producer, director, and cinematographer based in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova. Here he established here after graduating Documentary Filmmaking, an English master degree at Babes-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca, Romania. His short film debut - IN THE FRAME, a story about a transgender woman from Chisinau - had the premiere at the goEast Film Festival and traveled at other 15 international film festivals, including Cannes Short Film Corner, Ji.hlava IDFF, Transilvania International Film Festival, Beldocs, Artdocfest, and others. An ESoDoc and Balkan Documentary Center alumni, Now Ion is producing

Dream House - Feature Documentary Film project
For a period of 8-11 months, people of a Romanian village from Ukraine are going to work in Russia, where basically they are building houses for Russian Oligarchs. With earned money, they build home houses with 40-50-60 or even 80 rooms. The film will show how specific way of life, modes of migration and kinship relationships in a Romanian village from Ukraine shape the social status of a person.

“85 grams” follows the struggle of a Romanian historian and activist in his attempt to help the last survivors of the Roma Holocaust to get their deportee pension. In this urgent process he faces resistance by state authorities and system bureaucracy in a country where institutions are still shadowed by racism.
