Ivy Kiru is a Creative Producer and Production Manager having been in the industry for over six years. She has worked with both local and international filmmakers to help bring their vision to life be it be in fiction, non-fiction or advertisement storytelling. Ivy is the producer of Sungura (2021). The film has won best Extended Cinema at Malatesta Short Film Festival in Italy and Nominated Best Short Narrative at Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles. The Film has screened at Festival International du Film Panafricain de Cannes, The African Film Festival in Texas among others. She was part of the production team of two award winning Kenyan feature films; Supa Modo (2018), Lusala (2019) and No Simple Way Home (2022) having premiered at Berlin International Film Festival. She was also part of the second season of the Netflix produced show Sense 8. She went on to produce the shorts, Millet (2018) and Brikicho (2019), which were both funded by Docubox (EADFF), Little Black Dress (2020) which screened at the Luxor African Film Festival and won Best Short film at the Womanhood Festival in 2020.

The history of de Mabior’s family is closely tied to the history of South Sudan. Akuol’s father led his country’s liberation movement for over 20years and is revered as the nation’s founder. He died when Akuol was 16, just three weeks after his inauguration as South Sudan’s vice president. Akuol was raised in exile but returns with her mother and siblings to help rebuild her homeland and support her mother’s political campaign. Finding it hard to settle after so many years away, Akuol uses her camera to survey her new world, recording her mother, Rebecca Nyandeng de Mabior, as she shares her hopes for a prosperous and peaceful nation, and ultimately takes on the role of vice president.
