Lee Otten is currently the co-owner of Shoot the Breeze Productions and
has been involved in all aspects of the television industry for the past 31 years,
from Producing,Directing, Editing, Research, Sound recording, and Camerawork.
Lee is passionate about high quality work, and always delivers the best that she
possibly can. She is motivated, hard working, and strives for perfection. Lee
managed a staff of nine employees for eight years, and is considered to be a
person who always has time for her staff, and who encourages them and inspires
them to do their very best in their respective jobs. Besides being a leader, she is
also a very good team player, which she believe is imperative in this industry
Lee is passionate about animals and scuba diving and is currently adding to her
list of skills by doing a lot of underwater videography and photography.
WORK HIGHLIGHTS
As We See It, Albinism and Education: A half hour documentary produced for the Human Right's Media Centre looking at the condition of Albinism and the idea of inclusive education for people living with Albinism: Editor and DOP
Medical Research Council and Regency Foundation Networx: Edited a short piece on the history of HIV in South Africa that was shown at the opening plenary at the International HIV Conference held in Durban. Now busy editing an 18 minute version.
International Judo Federation, Budapest: Edited a story on reformed prisoners who do Judo and filmed and edited another story on reformed gangsters in Bonteheuwel.
Union of Jewish Women: Filmed, directed and edited short videos on seven projects they are involved in, in and around Cape Town
ITN: Insert about Domestic Violence in SA for their current affairs series called “On Assignment” 2015 (Fixer and DOP) (This insert just won the One World Award in London in the category of Women's Rights in Africa - http://www.oneworldmedia.org.uk/2016-nominees and the AIB (Association for International Broadcasting) award for best short feature in 2016
WIETA: promotional video for the NGO, Wine Industry’s Ethical Trader’s Association on farm worker’s rights 2015 including 3 modules and produced in English, Afrikaans< Xhosa and Tswana – (Director, DOP and editor)
Horte Sempre – a video for an NGO featuring the work they are doing with farmers in Mozambique (Director, DOP and editor)
“To Hell and Back” - 6 part Docu – Reality series for SABC 2, following 6 Addicts through a month long rehabilitation programme at Harmony Clinic. (Producer, Director, Primary Cameraperson and second editor)
Southern African Customs Union – a promotional documentary about SACU, which involved filming in Namibia, Lesotho, Botswana and Swaziland (Director, DOP and Editor)

the Khayelitsha area as an HIV peer counsellor and activist.
