Anuj Arora is an Independent Photographer based in India. He grew up in Delhi and studied bachelor’s at the University of Delhi. Later he studied visual communication in Delhi. Vivek is a Journalist, filmmaker and photographer working on extended documentary projects. He has dedicated his career towards chronicling through photography, film and prose, the rich tapestry of indigenous communities in one of Asia's most diverse regions. I've studied Film-making from Whistling Woods International with a specialization in Cinematography. I've been working professionally as a freelancer for almost 5 years in Delhi as well as Mumbai. I started working in the Hindi film industry as an apprentice to the leading cinematographer, Mr. KU Mohanan on films like Raees and Jab Harry Met Sejal. I also assisted on a couple of Netflix International Docu-series shot a while back, namely "Sex and Love", hosted by Christianne Amanpour (DOP - Federic Menou) and "Cricket Fever" on IPL Mumbai Indians (DOP - Steve Lidgerwood). Independently, I've been shooting both fiction as well as non-fiction content. To name a few, I've shot a documentary based on the life and works of an Indian Contemporary artist, Bharti Kher, which got screened at the Hauser & Wirth Gallery, Somerset, U. K. I recently got an opportunity to shoot an international docu-series based on unconventional education systems around the world, for which I shot the India-leg. Currently, I'm shooting a docu-fiction on the life and works of a leading Indian contemporary artist, Sudhir Patwardhan which is in its principal photography stage. I began my career as a writer for the Indian version of Sesame Street India (Galli Galli Sim Sim). From there I moved on to become a freelance director and cameraperson on a variety of projects mainly in the factual and non-fiction space. I have worked on shows for the Discovery Channel (as Associate Director and Cameraman), National Geogphrapic (Cameraman for Inside IPL) as well as independent documentaries. Interesting stories guide my work and I have worked on documentaries on a diverse range of issues from Kashmiri Sufi music to Buddhist nuns who are learning Kung Fu. My film Badshah Lear on the revival of a folk theater form in Kashmir was screened at Film South Asia 2020 and is part of their travelling film festicval.
