Ali is a documentary filmmaker and photographer who has a true vocation for sharing stories of the human spirit. Ali started her documentary career Co-directing and shooting a documentary film with the Martha Graham Dance Company and the Interlochen Arts Academy's dance department back in 2008, and since then has worked all over the country photographing and producing for some of the best filmmakers in the industry. Ali's work has taken her into surgical amphitheaters documenting open heart surgeries, to alpaca farms in rural Maine, meeting and photographing the Dalai Lama, to documenting woman and their experiences during post partum.
Recently, Ali was the Assistant Producer and Assistant Editor on a PBS documentary on the History and legacy of the Mayo Clinic, executive produced by Ken Burns in association with Ewers Brothers Productions. Ali has worked on several of Ken Burns' projects such as Emmy nominated series Cancer: The Emperor of All Maladies, a production by Ken Burns and Barak Goodman at Ark Media, The Life and Times of Jackie Robinson, The Address, and the Vietnam War series.
Currently, Ali is Co-Producing an independent feature length documentary with Director and Cinematographer Lindsay Taylor Jackson on a man who lived through the Velvet Revolution in Czechoslovakia titled Velvet Citizen. More information can be found on the film's website : www.velvetcitizen.com
A Wisconsin native, Ali graduated from Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin with a degree in Studio Art, with an emphasis on analog photography and digital media. She is also a graduate of the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies, where she received a graduate certificate in documentary photography and video.
Ali is available for producing, editing and shooting video and photography projects.
