I completed my BA in METU Industrial Design and MS in METU Media and Cultural Studies and started PhD in Bilkent Graphic Design. During my MA, I started to engage with video and documentaries. I went to Canada with a grant by Sauvé Foundation and worked as a research assistant at University McGill in 2004-2005. I worked as a montage director in İz TV (the first documentary channel in Turkey) and as the Middle East correspondent of American Independent Radio FSRN. I co-founded the first video-activist collective of Turkey -karahaber- with a couple of friends during my BA studies. I continue making videos and documentaries independently. I am a professional editor and DOP.

Mehdi Shabani is an Iranian documentary filmmaker and journalist based in Istanbul. His documentaries, videos and essays have been published and broadcasted across various media including BBC, Deutsche Welle, Voice of America and Aasoo. His work focuses on underreported socio-political issues in the region, often drawing links between Turkey and its eastern neighbors including Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran. Mehdi's production company Entemtainment has produced six feature documentaries and dozens of multimedia stories as well as experimental shorts and music videos. His documentaries have mostly been broadcasted on the BBC and been selected in film festivals around the world.
