I am a producer & fixer based in Istanbul, Turkey with over 20 years experience in making TV programs, documentaries, branded content and promo videos. I started my career at CNN Turk which is the Turkish spoken branch of international TV network CNN. From economy to culture and art programs, from documentaries to live broadcasts, I gained experience in producing many different genres of television programs at CNN Turk. Later, I worked for other Turkish news channels like Haberturk and TV 360. Here, I also got the chance to be in front of the camera as a correspondent and host at some programs which I enjoyed a lot. At some point of my career, I decided to quit full time jobs at TV channels and started working freelance for production companies. I worked with famous Turkish director Tolga Örnek and I prepared behind the scene documentaries and promo videos of some of his docu-dramas and feature films. Then over the years, I worked for many other production companies where I produced documentaries some of which were shot abroad. My first job as a fixer dates back to 2014 when National Geographic photographer Raul Touzon contacted me to arrange his photography workshop in Istanbul. This job made me realize how much I enjoy working with people from various countries. So since then I mostly prefer working as a producer / fixer for international crews. I’ve worked with many different crews such as journalists, documentary producers and photographers and looking forward to working with more. I worked as a TV correspondent for many years, for the Turkish spoken TV channels, for Turkish spoken branches of international TV stations like CNN Turk and Aljazeera Turk. I worked internationally for the Turkish Public TV TRT, as Jerusalem correspondent. I worked in Middle East, South Asia, Caucasus and Balkans. I made TV stories about conflicts in these regions such as American invasion in Iraq in 2003, Israeli- Lebanese war in 2006, Kurdish issue in Turkey, Israel - Palestine conflict, Pakistan Army's Swat Valley operations. I also made a mid-length (47 min.) documentary, named "Resister", about Tobacco Workers in Turkey's capital Ankara which lasted 78 days. This film deemed worthy of being "Best documentary" in 2010 by the Turkish Film Critics Association (SIYAD). Murat UTKU was born in 1972. Studied in Naval High School and Naval Academy. He left Naval Academy and graduated from İstanbul University, Faculty of Political Sciences/Economy and politics. Worked as a TV Journalist, at national and international TV Stations such as CNN Turk, Haberturk, TRT Turk. He worked for TRT Turk as the representative to Jerusalem for a short term. Travelled to the south east of Turkey very often to work on Kurdish issue. Has been been to Middle East so many times times, had an exprience on “crisis” and “conflict resolution”. Heʼs been to crisis areas like, Iraq (during the American invasion), Kosovo, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Palestine as TV correspondent, and Armenia many times to report about the conflict between two countries Turkey and Armenia. He reported Russia – Georgia war in 2008, which he followed and reported the war in South Osetia, Tbilisi and invaded Georgian city, Gori as a TV correspondent. He worked as TRT Türkʼs representative to Jerusalem in 2009. He produced and directed TV program called ʻHey Taksiʼ for TRT Türk. In 2010, he received Progressive Journalists Associationʼs Mahmut Tali Öngören TV Award with a TV story screened at CNN Türk, called ʻTwo Languages in a Suitcaseʼ. ‘Resister’, the documentary he made, deemed worthy of the ‘Best documentary’ of the year. He worked as Senior Correspondent for Aljazeera Turk, left his position in 2015. He has been working as a field producer for Aljazeera English since then. He spent more than two years in the South East of Turkey on the border with Syria, watched closely what’s been happening about the war within Syria, made news pieces on refugee issues either in te refugee camps administrated by Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Agency AFAD or worked on stories about the refugees who have currently been living in the cities like Gaziantep, Sanliurfa, Kilis as well as Istanbul. As a jurnalist and as a film maker he also worked with several NGOs including Turkish, Syrian and international aid groups and agencies, made TV and written stories about refugee children’s education as well. Murat Utku also worked as one of the field producers in Turkey for the documentary called Human Flow, filmed by Chinese artist and film director Ai Weiwei, about Syrian refugees screened at Berlin International Film Festival Berlinale on 2017.

The TV-Journalist, fixer, cameraman & director Christian Feiland located since 24 years in Istanbul. He became a “globe trotter” as an infant due to his father´s job. As a toddler he has lived for 4 years in Istanbul and as teenager he has spent 3 years in Karachi, Pakistan. In 1993 Chris started his media carrier at the Radio station “Kiss FM Berlin”. As young journalist he moderated a 2h program called “Kiss Young Culture”. Merve Sena Kılıç was born in Istanbul. She studied business administration at Boston University. She completed her second bachelor's degree in Sociology at Anadolu University. After graduating, she took journalism and communication courses at Galatasaray University for a year. Between 2009-2013, she worked as a journalist and television reporter for various national and international media organisations. Merve Sena, who received HEFAT "Harsh environmental conditions and emergency first aid training", worked as a field and documentary producer in war zones. I have worked as an international journalist, covered diplomacy and international news for various national and international media outlets both in Turkey and abroad including Associated Press, BBC, Mc Clatchy News, Daily Hurriyet, Hurriyet Daily News, Daily Milliyet, TRT Turk, and Daily Cumhuriyet for 23 years. I have been working as a freelance journalist (producer, commentator and reporter) since November 2019 for various media outlets such as Al Jazeera, CNN International, TV2 Denmark, Associated Press, etc. I studied BA in Radio-Television and Cinema at the Faculty of Communication at Marmara University in Istanbul. I started journalism as a reporter at Turkish Daily Cumhuriyet which is regarded as the “school of journalism” in Turkey. Because of my work in journalism, I won the coveted “UN Dag Hammarskjöld Scholarship” which was given by the UN Correspondents Association to only 3 journalists around the world in order to cover UN General Assembly for 4 months in New York in 2002. In 2004, I won a Chevening Scholarship from the British Council and went to UK to study my Masters. I studied my MA degree in “International Journalism” at the City University of London between 2004 and 2006. I worked for Associated Press Television News and BBC as a producer while I was in London. After coming back to Turkey in 2006, I started working for Turkish Daily “Milliyet” as a foreign news editor and diplomatic correspondent. While I was working at Milliyet, due to my work in journalism, I again won a coveted fellowship program for professional journalists called “Knight Wallace Fellowship” at the University of Michigan in US. I joined seminars on different fields of journalism and took classes on Middle East history and world politics at the University of Michigan for five months in 2008. I worked for TRT (Turkish Radio Television Channel) Turk as the Middle East editor for one year between 2010 and 2011. I worked as an editor and senior diplomatic correspondent for the most major newspaper in Turkey, Daily Hürriyet and its English language newspaper - Hürriyet Daily News for 9 years between 2011 and November 2019. Due to my work in the field; I have traveled many countries both in Europe and in the Middle east region including Germany, France, UK, Belgium, Italy, Greece, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Jordan, Egypt, Tunisia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia and many other countries for covering various foreign policy issues ranging from EU issues to civil war in Syria. I have been to conflict zone such as northern Syria during the war and northern Iraq after the so-called Islamic State’s (IS) occupation of Mosul and surrounding villages. During my profession, I also made interviews with many foreign leaders and diplomats including former Israeli President Shimon Peres, former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, former Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt, former US Secretary of State Madeline Albright, former US Secretary of State Henry Kissenger, Iranian Vice President Masoumeh Ebtekar, etc… In March 2016, I won the “Journalism Success Award” from the most major and influential journalism association in Turkey, Turkish Journalists Association (TGC) with my published interviews with the Yazidi women who were enslaved by ISIS in 2015.

I have a background in international relations and computer engineering, so working as a broadcast journalist has been an interesting way to use knowledge from both fields. That said, my area of interest is in sport and it's been that way since May 2000. That was when I fell in love with basketball, specifically the NBA. Murat is an Istanbul-based journalist and filmmaker. He has a BA from Yale University and an MS from Columbia Journalism School. As a CNN Turk reporter/producer, he made documentaries on the children of Southeastern Turkey, the Maidan uprising in Ukraine and the Turkish defense industry. Murat's first independent documentary was a 30-minute short called "The Waiting." The film is about the effects of incarceration on families left behind. After working at Rain Media for Frontline and Fareed Zakaria GPS at CNN’s New York bureau, he won a grant from Davis Projects for Peace to make a documentary in Southeastern Turkey. "A Report Card for Democracy" tells the story of a family destroyed by political polarization.

Özge Sebzeci is a photographer and journalist based in Istanbul, Turkey. Born next to the Bosphorus, Özge’s reporting and photography reveals a seldom-seen Turkey. Özge’s work, often combining documentary and art photography, caught the eye of the Magnum Foundation which awarded her a fellowship. She aims to explore underreported stories with a focus on gender and migration with an intimate approach. Her work has appeared in National Geographic, The New York Review of Books, The New Yorker, The Huffington Post, News Deeply, NRC Handelsblad, De Standaard, and VG, among others.
