I am a filmmaker and ethnographer of both documentary and short promotional films. Primarily a self-shooter and editor but looking to grow experience in research and camera operation. I trained using a Canon XA10 and DSLR Canon EOS 5D. I love telling stories about the human condition, people and places - using film to bring worlds to life. My film work includes short films to support published research papers in the healthcare sector. I am keen on both human stories and anthropology related ones. In the human side, I prefer stories about people who make a difference or are simply bizarre. As for the social stories, I like looking at groups of people through a camera lens; the inhabitants of a small town by the seaside and their location's history, their traditions, their Nature and everything that makes them unique; the representatives of a Freemasonry lodge and their reasons to be, their goals or their gatherings; I am interested in social stories and their impact on Society as well and a long etcetera. Ben Addelman is the director of four award winning feature documentaries. His first two films Discordia (2004) and Bombay Calling (2006) were both produced by the National Film Board of Canada and screened at dozens of festivals around the world. Bombay Calling was nominated for the 2007 Gemini Award for Best Social Political Documentary and premiered at Hot Docs. His third film Nollywood Babylon (2008), a feature documentary about Nigeria’s film industry, produced by his company AM Pictures and co-produced with the NFB, screened at Sundance Film Festival 2009 as part of the world documentary competition and continued on to other major film festivals around the world.
