In The year 2002 he began his career as a News Producer and Writer in the second largest TV station in Venezuela, Televen, covering the political and social situation that afflicted the country during the early years of President Hugo Chavez, including coups, general national strike, protests and elections. For the last 20 years I have been working as a photojournalist, photo editor, video journalist, writer, publisher and multimedia editor for wire agencies, newspapers and television channels, with a wide range of topics within Nicaragua, the Central American region and the Caribbean. I am currently working as a photo editor in the Latin America Associated Press photo desk. As a multimedia pioneer I have lead the development of Nicaraguas first and foremost multimedia department. This multimedia department was until recently, the leader in the region. I am fully bilingual and my experience in the field varies from being a single, in-country photojournalist, all the way up to managing multiple teams during intense coverage of news events, to developing, modernizing and creating new departmentsand media platfroms in the newsroom. His first work “González, Falsos Profetas” (2014) won the best film award in the Fribourg International Film Festival 2015, best first film in Montreal 2104 and the Ícaro award for the best feature film in Guatemala 2014. Also the Pantalla de Cristal award for Best Screenplay in 2014. In the 11th Morelia FIlm Fest, Carlos Bardem and Harold Torres won the Best Actor award. Also had five nominations for the Ariel awards from the Mexican Academy of Film Arts and Sciences: Best First Work, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Screenplay and Best Sound. Currently he is post-producing his second feature film, “Sanguinetti”, and writing the screenplay for “Conspiracy”, his third work. He founded the film production company AWKACINE in 2016.

Hi, I'm Santiago Casillas and i'm a multitask guy! I've been working in video production around 4-5 years. I work with a production company called With a Smile Films that resides in Mexico City.
