I'm a freelance radio producer, journalist and documentary filmmaker based in Los Angeles, CA. My beat is hard to pin down. I've covered mental health, graffiti art, insect farming, ghost hunting, psychedelic medicine and more. Above all, I like stories that inspire, surprise and inform. I like stories that make us wonder about something we never thought we'd care about. I'm a graduate of the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies in Portland, Maine, where I specialized in writing and multimedia. I interned with NPR West in Culver City, where I subsequently worked as a producer for Weekend All Things Considered. I was raised on the Oregon coast, schooled in Wisconsin, and spent a year volunteering with AmeriCorps and traveling around the US. Now I'm making my way as a freelancer. I'm always looking for collaborators, learning experiences and stories to tell.

I love traveling, I love adventure, but most of all I love producing video stories. I've been working in video production since 2012 when I started graduate school at the University of Southern California. It was there that I learned the craft of documentaries. I spent two years living in Anchorage, Alaska, traveling around the state producing videos for Alaska Public Media. My videos ranged from mini documentaries for our Indie Alaska series, to underwriting spots for our sponsors. I now freelance out of Southern California. I'm a one-man band. I conceptualize, shoot and edit stories, but always appreciate opportunities to work collaboratively. I'm always looking for the next story to capture through my lens.

Sasa (pronounced Sasha) Woodruff is radio and video journalist who focuses on making beautiful and compelling videos about food. She is a contributor to the new food platform, Nom and author of an award-winning Vine channel. Sasa’s six-second films documenting her travels and food adventures in Central Europe won Viner of the Year at the Taste Awards. With more than two decades in the broadcast news arena, Sasa has reported, produced and edited for major news outlets including NPR, Public Radio International and American Public Media. She is an avid cook and baker, and when not shooting video or editing audio, you’ll probably find her digging in the garden or figuring out how to make vinegar from scratch.

My documentary origin story is an unlikely one. I graduated from Skidmore College with a degree in Modern Dance and Creative Writing. After a colorful stint as an au pair in France, I made my way to the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies in Portland, ME where I studied radio and multimedia production. It wasn’t long before I was hooked. On I went to NPR and PRX's State of the Re:Union where I worked on an hour of stories about transgender life in America. Then, I came to NPR West in Los Angeles to work as a Production Intern for Weekend All Things Considered. And now, I'm taking off across the United States with my partner and collaborator, Steven B. Jackson, in search of our country's untold stories.

an American film director and screenwriter based in California primarily known for his bold & visually captivating style that has directed short films, commercials, and music videos for various clients around the world. He is the founder of X7Productions, a production company he established in 2010. My weapons of choice are the DJI Inspire 2 for drone/aerial work and the Blackmagic URSA Mini 4.6k Cinema Camera workhorse for my camera A rig. I prefer to work with anamorphic lenses for that organic cinematic feel. Depending on the project needs, I will rent additional camera/lenses as needed ranging from DSLRs to additional cine cameras such as a RED camera if needed.

The aim of my work is to empower communities by connecting their stories. I’ve traveled to the most remote corners of the U.S. filming the impacts of climate change on human lives – families in Arkansas rebuilding after an oil spill, a small town in California’s central valley running out of water. I documented the United Nations conference on climate change in Paris and flew over the Alberta Tar Sands, giving voice to a First Nations community living downstream from one of the worst ecological disasters in the world. Past clients include The New York Times, Segal Family Foundation, Tom Steyer, Sir Richard Branson, American Way Magazine, NextGen America, and Barack Obama's 2012 campaign.

I'm a documentary/commercial filmmaker. I've been shooting now for over 10 years on everything from low/no budget to big budget productions. I started my own rigging company about 6 years ago, but I enjoy filmmaking more than running a business. Among many projects, building our own electric car has been one that's kept us entertained the last year, and I plan to integrate that into filmmaking projects coming up.
