My name is Lumumba David. I have been creating digital video and photo content for nearly ten years. Alongside being a documentary photographer and filmmaker, Maen, professionally, is a human rights researcher and campaigner at Amnesty International. He has been documenting the Palestinian skateboard scene for the last six years and engages in reciprocal nourishment with this community. Mahala is a director and producer with Courageous Studios, the brand studio for CNN. Previously she was a video journalist working at the Denver Post from 2010-2015. In that time she had the opportunity to grow with the newspaper’s developing video department, from working on daily video and breaking news to producing both short and feature length documentaries exploring themes and issues integral to the Denver and Colorado community. Her work has been recognized by Picture of the Year International, the Heartland Chapter Emmy Awards, and the National Edward R. Murrow Awards. AFTER SPRING premiered on STARZ in February 2017. Ellen and Steph are recipients of the Frontline Award for excellent in documentary journalism and are MacArthur foundation grantees. They are experienced in international production and received exclusive access to film AFTER SPRING in the Zaatari Refugee Camp in Jordan, 7 miles from the Syrian border. I grew up in the South. I was born and raised in Tennessee, but I moved around a lot after my parents split when I was 10. I went to 3 different middle schools and 3 different high schools. I learned to make friends fast. I'm currently residing in Brooklyn, but I travel to Europe typically once or twice a year. Mostly Paris, London, and Milan.
