For the last seven years Kuba Witek worked in Greenland, Spitsbergen, the Faroe Islands, Iceland, Poland and the USA as a documentary filmmaker, author and speaker. He is fascinated by the North, whose inhabitants and nature are most strongly affected by the effects of climate change and destructive human activity. Thanks to many years of attention devoted to the arctic regions, he had the opportunity to conduct many interviews with scientists, historians, politicians and artists, many of whom are the protagonists of his films. Kuba appreciates teamwork, but has the skills and experience that allow him to take care of each stage of film production, often carried out in demanding polar conditions. His projects were created in cooperation with National Geographic Poland, Greenpeace, the Embassies of the Republic of Poland in Copenhagen and Reykjavik, and various scientific institutions. Kuba is a supporter of a plant-based diet, a minimalist, and cares about ecology and internal development.

I graduated in Economics at the University of Warsaw and Film and TV Production at Lazarski University. I've been associated with the media market since 2000. First, as a photographer and producer of photo sessions, I collaborated with such titles as Newsweek, Forbes and Harvard Business Review. In recent years, I have completed dozens of advertising, promotional and corporate productions, often appearing in a double or triple role as a producer, production manager and plan manager. I am characterized by responsibility and self-discipline. I have extensive experience in working with clients with very high requirements, foreign clients, in projects with very short lead times and in dealing with frequent crises. I worked with small Polish family businesses as well and the largest global corporations. Directly and through the agency. For neraly 10 years I have been cooperating with dozens of artists from most of the video and animation production departments with whom I have regular contact and good, warm professional relations. Because I am guided by strong beliefs and demand a lot from myself, I have the gift to build implementation teams, which always consist of committed and motivated to achieve the best results from creators for whom finances are not the main, and certainly not the most important motivator. I also develop this gift in the field of social activity.

I’m a writer, photographer, and video journalist who has covered politics and society in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and the United States. My journalistic work has spanned a broad set of issues, including conflict reporting in Ukraine during the Russian invasion in 2022, coverage of the 2019-2020 protests in Beirut, reporting on the Syrian refugee crisis in the Levant, and coverage of the Poland-Belarus migrant crisis in 2021. As a freelance journalist reporting on Ukraine, Lebanon, Iraq, Poland, Turkey, and the US, I’ve always made human stories and experiences the focal point of my work. After working at several newsrooms across the US including Business Insider, I started freelancing in spring of 2018, and I’ve split most of my time since then between Beirut, New York City, and Warsaw. While based in Poland, I reported on the migrant crisis along the Belarus border in 2021, and took a reporting trip to Ukraine in 2022 to report on refugees fleeing the conflict, the impact of war on Ukrainian cities, and war crimes perpetrated by Russian forces in the Kyiv area. While in Beirut, I’ve covered sectarianism, militia politics, energy issues, Palestinian and Syrian refugee communities, terrorism, economic development, criminal justice, social movements and more in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and elsewhere. My freelance work has appeared in a variety of outlets including Foreign Policy, Vox, Al Jazeera English, The Daily Beast, Euronews, Al-Monitor, Middle East Eye, Business Insider, The New Arab, and others. I have produced video pieces for Al Jazeera English and Retro Report, in addition to photo essays for Middle East Eye. I graduated with a B.A. degree in History from the University of Chicago in 2017, having concentrated on the modern Middle East. In May of 2021, I earned a Master of Science degree from Columbia University’s Journalism School in New York City, where I covered a range of beats including alternatives to policing, housing insecurity during COVID-19, right-wing reactions to pandemic restrictions, and politics in Turkey and Iraq.
