I'm a Cape-Town based filmmaker and photographer, with over twelve years experience as a free-lancer. My endless curiosity drives my motivation of capturing the essence of the many incredible humans we have in this world, whether it be through portraiture, or documentary films. I am a video journalist, camera operator and editor based out Cape Town, South Africa. I have recently gone freelance after working as a video journalist with the BBC's flagship business programme on the continent, 'Africa Business Report'. During my time with this international broadcaster I was responsible for shooting and editing news pieces for the business programme. In addition to filming and editing the separate elements of the show I was also responsible for shooting links and editing the programme. I also shot and edited stories for daily news coverage, features as well as online specific pieces. I am also a qualified diving instructor and am able to offer underwater filming including gear. I have worked extensively across the continent including Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Liberia, The Gambia, Ethiopia, Madagascar and elsewhere. I am a musician, writer and documentary filmmaker with extensive business and travel experience. After studying English Lit and Journalism at the University of Cape Town, I joined an international social media sales & marketing company in the UK focusing on sales development for fast-growing B2B tech companies. This allowed me to develop a range of skills including copywriting, business video scripting & shooting and multimedia presentation. I've also just recently finished filming a documentary on the music culture of Vietnam, funded and produced entirely on my own. I have been filming and recording sound for broadcast and corporate productions for over 15 years working with various cameras and sound rigs. My career in this industry started when I was employed as an assistant at a camera rental house and from there I progressed to managing the rental floor which eventually led to me ultimately finding my passion which is operating the camera and recording sound. I have worked as a camera operator and sound recordist for a wide array of projects working with broadcasters such a Canal +, CNN, BBC, Eurovision and Channel 4. My experience in shooting long form documentaries with tight deadlines and having worked in the television industry has made me accustomed to having to work under extreme pressure, I am able to take initiative where necessary and am able to work independently.
