I am a Mexico City based photographer/videographer with experience and special interest in news, documentaries, human interest stories and non fiction storytelling for traditional, Web or Social Media. I started my career as a stringer photographer with the AP in Venezuela back in 1999, was the official photographer of late president Hugo Chávez, and has experience covering local, national and international news events; most recently I worked for an editorial group in Caracas, Venezuela, shooting video stories for their three newspapers websites, before moving to Mexico. I majored in Mass Communications and was a Photojournalism college professor, so I keep myself up to date in new forms of visual storytelling. GABRIEL SERRA is an Award Director and Cinematographer. Originally from Nicaragua, Gabriel is now based in Mexico City but spreads his time working in the US, Mexico, and across Central America. He study journalism in Nicaragua and then cinematography in Mexico City in Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC) from 2008-2015. He has worked as Cinematographer both in the premium documentary space and narrative features. Some of his recent work in this role includes EL TEMA (a docuseries about the climate crisis in Mexico), NIÑA FURIA (an HBO fiction series about Nicaraguans exiles in Costa Rica), and the award-winning documentary feature, RUSH HOUR. His features film as a director was EL MITO BLANCO. LILIANA, and two short documentary films for Tate Modern Museum. Most recently, he wrote and directed the Amazon Prime docuseries, GOOD RIVALS, nominated for the Emmys sport category and was the Dop for Tratado de invisible premierd and awarded at Guadalajara film festival

ablo Benjamín Nieto Mercado (Mexico City, 1979) is an engineer and multimedia producer with a remarkable career that merges technology and creativity. His experience in the technological field includes roles as Project Leader and Consultant in Electronic Payment Methods at companies such as Punto Clave - EDENRED, Optima Technology, and SwitchGATE. With expertise in the design of transactional and bank correspondent architectures, he has led key projects such as the management system for gasoline voucher cards and the development of the ISO 8583 Switch and Transactional Core for Edenred, strategically connecting banks with retail stores. In the cinematic and cultural sphere, Pablo has stood out with a wide range of audiovisual and experimental productions. His work encompasses twenty albums, fourteen installations, thirty short films, and the feature film "The Basin of the Stone Rivers," with which he participated in Bolivia Lab 2016, winning the Pitch Award for Latin American Projects. This feature film has received support from institutions such as Bolivia Lab and IMCINE in 2016, FONCA in 2017, and Doc Society in 2020. "The Basin of the Stone Rivers" has been selected in international film festivals and showcases, such as the AHORA Festival in Montevideo, Uruguay; Arthaus Winter Film Exhibition in Havana, Cuba; Humano CECUT Festival in Tijuana; Fragmented Image Encounter at the Autonomous University of Querétaro; and the UACM Tezonco Book Festival. Additionally, it has won first place at the Tukuru 2020 Film Festival and has been recognized and featured in international festivals. Pablo has also gained recognition for his short film "Bodies of Water," selected in 2019 at GEOFILMFESTIVAL in Cittadella, Italy; Video Art Forum in Dammam, Saudi Arabia; The Itinerant Cinema of La Bête Rouss in France; Docs Buenos Aires; and FICMA 5.0. His Webdoc ATL received first place at the 2020 Image Encounter "New Documentaries" at the Autonomous University of Querétaro and was selected by Art Hole magazine in London. In 2021, WebDoc ATL participated in the interactive exhibition "The Castle" at Arthousehaus in London and the DigitalKunst Festival in Stuttgart, Germany. Additionally, his short film "Invasion" was presented at the Cinema di Cefalù Festival, FilmÓptico, Music Maker Festival, Miradas Locales, Mexican Cinema Day, and the collective exhibition "Conceiving, Naming, Saying" at the Centro de la Imagen. I'm interested in telling the way things get done, either it's food, a tool or an event. I like to be in the position of the people who is making it happen. The FPPoV (First Person Point of View) it's pretty much my most predominant shot in all my productions, almost a signature shot. I was born in the city of Oaxaca de Juárez, south of México. I moved to México City, DF. At the age of 18. Studied in film school for 2 and a half years then I begun to shot my own documentaries, day to day life in México, a ride in the Metro, a Music festival in the heart of the city, jogging in the park, a party night drinking till' next morning, a walkthrough to the street art beacons in the city. Or a day in first grade class room in State of México. Right now working with "Coletivo Mariachi", which is a group of media professionals (Journalists, photographers, documentalists) A collective that is following the protests in Rio de Janeiro since the very beginning.

Soy un realizador audiovisual y tengo 29 años de edad. Estudié Artes Audiovisuales y desde que salí de la escuela en 2006 hasta el 2009 me dediqué a levantar proyectos personales. Apartir del 2009 comencé a trabajar en la TV comercial como Editor Senior. Esto me separó de mi pasión por el documental, sin embargo en 2011 entré a trabajar a Milenio TV, un canal de noticias en México, lo que me acercó al mundo del noticiero y un poco al documental Actualmente radico en la Ciudad de México y estoy produciendo un documental sobre una Subasta de Plantas que yo mismo recrearé para acelerar los procesos del mercado y de la economía actual. Quiero revisar e indagar en temas como el valor de las cosas y la comercialización de seres vivos. Me interesa observar el afecto y el posible apego que el ser humano ejerce sobre su entorno inmediato y como esto es el motor de sus actos. Estoy interesado en revisar la delgada línea que separa a la narrativa del documental y los formatos de la ficción.

I am an independent audiovisual producer with experience in the production of series and cultural reports on traditions, indigenous groups, archaeological zones, human rights and freedom of expression. For more than 20 years I have collaborated with channel 11, channel 22, EDUSAT, and television with reports, documentaries and series that describe from the physical space (landscape, environment) to social conditions (marginalization, poverty, addictions) of diverse Communities. I have had the opportunity to travel the Mexican Republic from the northern area where the Seris, Tarahumaras and Hucholes live to the south where the descendants of the Maya still live. Work for the Latin American Institute of Educational Communication (ILCE) in the design of the series of towns of Mexico, rivers of Mexico and the stories of the tlacohache where a good amount of the new stories that are lived in Mexico are documented.

Originally from Argentina, Florencia is also Mexican and American by adoption. ​She holds a BA in Political Science from Buenos Aires University, and a MFA in filmmaking from Maine Media College. ​Florencia is the author of The Marching Quixotes, an 81´ documentary about members of the15-M movement that she followed from 2011 to 2014. Im a freelance multimedia reporter covering Latin Americas rural sector. My work has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, the Seattle Times, the Las Vegas Sun, Dow Jones Newswires, and other publications. Before I became an independent journalist, I covered commodities in Mexico, Central America and the Andean region for nearly three years as a correspondent for the Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones Newswires. I spent time with cocoa growers, opium poppy producers, coffee smugglers, anti-mining activists and more. I like any stories that shed an unusual light on rural supply chains. The forests, mountains and lowland plantations where I do most of my reporting are rich in visual detail, and I always seek out stories that provide depth and context to mainstream ideas about the origins of our food and other products were consume. I look for the sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes uplifting tales behind our chocolate bars and our vanilla lattés, the strange histories that make incomprehensible the knowledge that our golden earrings or corn flakes are valued at a few dollars, rather than being priceless.

I'm a 34 years old documentary filmmaker born and raised in Mexico City. Currently, I'm a student in the last semester of the master's degree in documentary filmmaking, taught at the University Center of Cinematographic Studies (CUEC) and the National School of Plastic Arts (ENAP), UNAM. I'm working on my thesis, which is a feature length documentary on water conflicts in Mexico City. I have produced documentary short films for the Culture Institute of Mexico City, about cultural development on areas with high levels of marginalization. I have also directed short documentary films that have been selected on national and international Film Festivals. Although I like documentary films based on subject's life stories, I think that when becoming a film, every theme and issue has his own narrative form that has to be found. I like to experiment with different styles, and find the one that better fits to tell a story. The topics that I like to work are related to environment, social development, arts, justice and collective memory; the stories that I like to tell are the ones that allow the audience to connect not only to local important issues, but also with universal emotions.

I just graduated from university with a degree in audio and visual production. I sold my car to buy some equipment and start my own career as a videomaker here in Mexico city. Now i'm working in the most important documentary film festival in Mexico named "Ambulante" and i've been colaborating with this festival since 2009, working as a production coordinator and recording video for "making off" and interviews with guests from many parts of the world. I've traveled from north to south of my country and i've seen tons of great stories waiting for someone to capture them with a camera and now i want to start telling this stories from my own perspective. Working in Ambulante has been a great chance to familiarize with the lenguage of documentary films, and i have developed a true passion for this kind of films, from political or massive events to very particular characters in society, i think there's always a great way to tell the story.
