Tazeen Bari is a documentary director, producer and cinematographer based in Islamabad, Pakistan. She is the owner of KINO Films, an Islamabad based documentary production company and has been making documentaries independently, for broadcast, various production companies and for the development sector in Pakistan for over 10 years. Hi My name is Ali. I am a film maker and educator from Karachi, Pakistan. I am interested in storytelling be it documentary or fiction. I am working with Producer Noe Mendelle of the Scottish Documentary Institute (SDI) on “Guddu” a documentary about a man obsessed about the Pakistani film industry. This subject very dear to me. We seem to forget that we had a very rich history of cinema in Pakistan. This is a small attempt in documenting something which shaped a large part of our pop culture in South Asia. I was fortunate to be a student of the only dedicated film school in Pakistan, the now defunct SAAMPT, I have worked in varying roles with other film makers including International Award winning director, Mehreen Jabbar and Commercial Director Asim Raza. I'm Islamabad based journalist working with a leading English Daily Newspaper as a reporter covering various stories of public interest taking place in Pakistan. There are so many stories which needs to be told to the world about Pakistan. Data is the first step of Accountability and I specialize in collecting data, after collecting the data when it's used in a story related to a person, place or community, a compete story can be told to the audience. The story with the facts, data and human angle always create an impact and as a journalist creating impact must always be the most important goal for any working journalist. I'm fortunate enough to work on some stories which has created impact where government had to do legislation for animals to teachers getting their rightful promotions to courts getting judges on vacant seats. I enjoy what I do and I'm just fortunate to be a journalist.
