Michael M. Santiago is a photojournalist based in Brooklyn, New York. Santiago received his bachelor’s in fine arts at San Francisco Art Institute and a master's degree from S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. His work focuses on issues concerning people of color and their communities, from obesity and cancer to race and identity. His work has been featured in The New York Times Lens Blog, VICE Australia, Slate, ESPN's The Undefeated, The San Francisco Chronicle, Scientific American, PBS Newshour and Buzzfeed News. His work has been honored by the Alexia Foundation, College Photographer of the Year and Photo District News. He was a student at the Eddie Adams Workshop XXVIII. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been a storyteller and my work reflects that part of myself. From contemporary affairs through journalism to creative short stories, I aim to engage viewers and provide a true understanding of important issues in our media driven culture. I’ve had a varied media career over the past 10 years. Commercial photo illustrator, travel photographer, web designer, and videographer are just a few of the hats I’ve worn… even a short stint as a goat ranch hand. This range (herding pun intended) of experience has provided insight into media across platforms and some pretty crazy adventures too. My digital diversity and subsequent long hours with various media software directed me straight to a true passion in animation and motion graphics. Joshua is a multimedia producer, shooter and editor based in Washington D.C. specializing in video, photo and audio production. For five years Joshua worked at "The Hill," a Congressional publication in D.C., where he produced online video covering national issues including the military, law enforcement, justice, healthcare and economics. Joshua is a graduate of The George Washington University's School of Media and Public Affairs where he has also taught. My career in media started in the fields of design/marketing, which I still use as my primary source of income (freelancer). I gained experience in photography during my years of college, which led to exciting opportunities such as shooting two seasons of New York Fashion Week as well as other business-related events. While I love being behind the camera, my true passion lies within finding the deep, unusual stories that wouldn't typically be covered by the main-stream media. My passion for storytelling has taken me all over the world - from the top of Mt St Helens to the epicenter of a nuclear disaster in Japan. I have more than a decade of experience reporting, both domestically and internationally. Most recently, I worked as a Tokyo-based correspondent for ABC News, covering everything from the tsunami and Fukushima nuclear disaster, to the conflict on the Korean peninsula. Prior to my time in Asia, I spent 5 years in Seattle, as a general assignment reporter. My name is Arpita Aneja and I am video journalist, documentary filmmaker, and recent graduate from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University (with a concentration in broadcast/videography and a minor in Anthropology). I like to hunt for stories that break stereotypes and promote empathic understanding. I believe video can be a powerful tool for not only informing viewers, but also giving them a glimpse of a life that is not their own-- that they cannot even imagine living. I have done stories of various lengths, from 1 minute long video pieces to 27 minute documentaries. Some of my pieces were for online publications, and others were independent projects which I am now looking to distribute. While I will continue to make short form videos as a career, it is my goal to one day make a feature length documentary.

As a reporter, I have a talent for connecting with people a natural mixture of self-confidence, charisma and likeability. I am easy to work with, and while seemingly never stressed out, I am often a person people rely on to get things done. Collectively, I know these skills have benefited me throughout my journalism career. Furthermore, I grew up moving throughout Latin America and I have always been able to adapt to new surroundings both quickly and naturally. My fluency in Spanish can also be an asset to any story. My work readily demonstrates the desire to do more than just tell people news, but rather find news. I can break stories in a compelling manner that will attract viewers and leave them better informed. I understand the broadcast news adage, dont try to make art, try to make the air, but I always strive to do both.

My name is Dave Carroll. I'm a filmmaker based in New York City with over a decade of experience in film, commercial and broadcast. My first feature length documentary entitled 'Bending Steel' premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival this past April and is currently running the international festival circuit with distribution in the works for later this year. I am interested in telling stories akin to that of a narrative , digging in to the characters and helping tell their stories in a dramatic manner. I enjoy the complexity of the human experience and putting that up on screen for the audience to relate to. Finding that connection to the audience and focusing their attention in to the core of the film is as critical as it has ever been with the amount of content that is out and available for audiences. Filmmaking to me is all about that immersion of audience to character and story.

I’ve covered faith communities, from a queer Jewish NYC storytelling troupe, to a small congregation of serpent-handling Pentecostal Christians in Tennessee. I’ve followed students at a last chance Brooklyn High School overcoming a culture of violence and low expectations to put on their school’s first-ever talent show. I live in Brooklyn and love finding unique angles on LGBTQ issues, income inequality, and faith. I’m passionate about stories reflecting the human face of climate change and I’m currently working on a long-form documentary about the oil industry’s impact on the unique cultures of South Louisiana.

My name is Jay Denson and I'm a recent graduate of the Columbia School of Journalism. As a native New Yorker, I covered everything from Occupy Wall Street to Hurricane Sandy. My particular stories of interest are sports, health, fitness and Human Interest. For my Master Thesis, I covered the evolution of pole dancing and the popularity of the genre. I also covered the inauguration of CitiBike. Getting reaction from opponents and residents in favor of the project. I also did a profile on Captain Dave about the fishing decline in Sheepshead Bay Brooklyn, NY. I received honors during the 2012 Fall semester for that project. I follow the trends. I am a multimedia journalist who has been reporting at the intersection of food, culture, and economics for seven years. New York has proven to be such a rich vein for this kind of storytelling that I've built my freelance career with profiles, features, and long-form stories on food, cooks, producers, consumers, immigrants, urban history, and the ever-changing communities of the city. In 2012 I produced, filmed, and edited an award-winning documentary on the first commercial "sugar shack" of Quebec. I am now working on a second documentary, about the unusual success and unfortunate fate of a hole-in-the-wall diner in Albany, California. My ongoing web video series, "1 Minute Meal", invites viewers to leave the glamorized world of chefs, famous restaurants, and critics to experience more essential moments in New York's food culture.

Since graduating with dual degrees in journalism and history from Boston University in 2011, Ive been working on as a freelance all-platform journalist. My work has been published by The Boston Phoenix, The Boston Globe, and MIT Press, and I have interned for Agence VU in Paris and the Photographic Resource Center in Boston. For the past two years I've produced a documentary project, Folk to Folk, which explores emerging traditions of folk music among a new generation of performers. I speak fluent Spanish and have a keen understanding of indigenous life in South and Central America. While studying, I took a trip to Mexico that defined my future career goals. I made my own documentary (filmed, edited, translated and produced single-handedly) about the misconceptions Americans have about Mexicans and the misconceptions Mexicans have about moving to America. I live in Washington Heights and try to surround myself in Latin American culture as much as possible.
