Stephen Joel Root is a writer, director, actor, producer, editor, storyteller, artist and owner of Flag Film Productions in Flagstaff, Arizona. He originally hails from the frozen tundra of Minnesota where he first picked up a video camera to tell stories as a young boy with an overactive imagination. He studied film/video at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design where he won several student filmmaking awards and created short films that screened in film festivals around the country. After graduation he worked as a reporter/photojournalist for KPNX Channel 12 - Arizona's NBC affiliate for nearly a decade. Liliana Soto is a multi-award winning Multi-Media/investigative Journalist and News Anchor with a Bachelor’s degree from The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. Liliana worked as a multi-media journalist and weekend news anchor for Univision Arizona from October 2015 to January 2018. During her time at Univision AZ she earned recognition by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences with eight Emmys. One of the most prominent Emmys was for her investigative report on a case of abuse of authority and discrimination by officers in the Phoenix police department against a Hispanic woman. I started ddd eyes experience, inc. in October of 2003. I was born in the Northeastern part of Arizona. I've since spent twenty three years on the East Coast. Attending school (Cushing Academy and RISD) and working (Foxwoods Resort and Casino) and the last fifteen years in my adopted hometown of New York City (Central Park North). I've traveled for business and leisure to: Japan, Russia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Italy, France, England, Bahamas, cross country USA three times. I spent my youth creating with all mediums available to me; from the two dimensional form to the three dimensional form. As both an undergraduate and graduate journalism student at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism, I have focused on refugee and migration topics. I am trained and have a degree in Broadcast Journalism and have worked for 3 news stations, two in Arizona, one in Nebraska. I enjoy telling long-form, emotional stories that help my viewers connect with the subject. I have completed 3 documentaries in the past 3 years and film, edit, produce all on my own. My first documentary, Speak, followed two Somali refugee students through the public school experience in Arizona. My passion for communication and media began when I was a high schooler. I decided to major in English Translation as an undergraduate student. I mustered up all my courage and efforts to master my language skills. I then applied for a Fulbright Scholarship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. While there, volunteering for radio stations which facilitated my way of being admitted to the journalism graduate program at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota. There, I was news director at KVSC 88.1 FM and produced a lot of podcasts and audio packages as well as written stories. Blake McCord is an award-winning filmmaker and DP passionate about capturing imagery that elevates story. Blake’s work has been honored at numerous film festivals. Most recently, the Banff Mountain Film Festival and Kendal Mountain Festival recognized They/Them as Best Climbing Film.
