I’m an OJA award nominated filmmaker and multimedia journalist, based in Manhattan. After changing careers from immunology to journalism and filmmaking I have completed a virtual reality film for PBS Frontline, individually created a short documentary set in Ukraine, and animated and edited for the likes of Vice News Tonight. I believe that blurring the edges of your profession in this new world of journalism and filmmaking is the true future of generating and consuming thoughtful and interesting content. This is why I strive to achieve perfection in many innovative and emergent fields of journalism. I also endeavor to perform as a complete package; being proficient in everything from producing and shooting to editing, animation and design is something I take very seriously. I believe that doing so many different things that you no longer know what to call yourself is a good thing. I value creativity, beauty, simplicity, accuracy, care, and authenticity and I wish to educate and engage us to issues that otherwise would not have been considered in an artfully simplistic way. I primarily consider myself a cinematographer and producer, but can also serve as a video editor, animator, researcher, sound engineer, and composer.

Maria is a director, producer and cinematographer based in New York City. She was most recently a producer on National Geographic's "Explorer" series. In 2011, her fllm "Sarabah", premiered at the 2011 Movies That Matter Film Festival, winning the Matter of ACT prize for Best Documentary. It screened at forty festivals around the world, has been broadcast on Link TV in the US, France and Sweden and won the She CINE Golden Eagle Award for Independent Television Documentary in 2012. Gambale has worked as a cinematographer and producer in both fiction and documentary for the past 20 years, and also writes political and social interest essays for "PassBlue." Nicole Teeny is an award-winning documentary filmmaker. Nicole started NYU film school having never seen an R rated movie and only 1.5 PG-13 films (she grew up a community that censored media). While in undergrad, for her first feature documentary, Nicole turned the camera on her own community for BIBLE QUIZ, a coming-of-age doc about the evangelical sport of Bible memory. BIBLE QUIZ won the Slamdance Grand Jury Award (and 9 other Grand Jury festival awards), played on Netflix, theatrically in seven cities at Alamo Drafthouse movie theaters, on Kanopy, on the Sundance Channel Global in 20+ countries, and was selected for the US State Department’s “American Film Showcase”. Hollywood Reporter called it "instantly lovable" and the LA Times said it was “Smart, funny, and disarming”. Nicole followed that beat and is in post-production on her second feature documentary, BULLETPROOF STOCKINGS, about the first all-female Hasidic rock band. It won the Doc-a-chusetts Pitch, LEF Moving Image grant and Cambridge art grants, and was a finalist at Fork Films and Chicken & Egg. Nicole also makes documentary shorts and series. THE WRITER exhibited at 2015 Viennale and over 50 international galleries and museums as a part of Harun’s Farocki’s “Labour in A Single Shot”. Her branded docu-series COMMUNAL FUTURES about collectives with The Collective featured a queer mosque, a makerspace, and an ecovillage. Nicole has also worked with The HuffPost (formerly The Huffington Post) and Bloomberg News Video. Her narrative film script PUBLIC POOL was selected for the Berlin Film Festival Short Film Station and also won 5 film festival screenplay awards including Best of at the Pheonix Film Festival & Sacramento Film Festival. She's been an artist in residence at Virginia Creative Center for the Arts, Brush Creek Arts Foundation, Arts Kibbutz, and collaborated with the MIT Media Lab. She's a member of Film Fatales, and Diverse Filmmakers Alliance.

I’m an award-winning producer-director with 25 years experience making documentaries, entertainment shows and short videos for non-profit groups like Amnesty International. I was senior producer-director of long form programs at MTV for 5 years. After leaving MTV I produced 3 films for director Michael Apted: “The Long Way Home,” about Russian rocker Boris Grebenshikov’s odyssey to the West, and “Married In America” 1 & 2, an ongoing doc about 9 couples wed in 2001. As an editor I've got deep content marketing and journalism experience, for major big-name media companies that you've heard of and for lots of corporate and institutional clients (you’ve heard of many of them, too). I started out in video production in Tampa, FL where I graduated from the University of Tampa in 2011 with a degree in Film and Media Arts. From there I worked for a production company, Tampa Digital Studios. As a Junior Producer I learned the ropes of TV and web production from content producing, editing, gripping, and of course shooting and lighting. Winner of a Student Academy Award and six Emmys, I am a Spanish director, producer, and director of photography based in New York. As a TV producer, I received six Emmy® Awards for my work at the cultural magazine Nueva York (CUNY TV), about Latinos in New York. I am also the co-producer and director of the video content of the transmedia documentary project “Sonic Trace”, produced by Anayansi Diaz-Cortes with support of ITVS, NEA, Cal Humanities, KCRW, AIR, and PBS. I became a freelance multi-media reporter in 2008 after a career as a fine artist/craftsman. I bring to my work a strong visual style- placing value on the look as well as the content. I am a print journalist and aspiring photojournalist based in Boston, with training in radio and video production. I hold Bachelor's degrees in English and Biology from Davidson College and a Master's degree in Science Writing from MIT. I have written stories for New Scientist, Harvard Magazine, MIT Tech Review, EMBLetc, and other online and print publications, and have performed at Storycollider in Boston. I love telling stories about a wide variety of topics, especially anything that involves traveling (I have traveled to every continent except Antarctica, but that's on my list)! My dream assignment would take me to Cuba to get an insider's look at what that country and culture have been like under US sanctions for the last 50 years, so that I can document that way of life before it changes drastically following changing political mandates. Originally from Los Angeles, CA, Cassandra Giraldo is an independent photojournalist based in Brooklyn, New York. She does daily assignment work in New York City where she works regularly for outlets including The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times, among others. She graduated from Skidmore College in 2011 with a BA in International Affairs and French after which she completed the Photojournalism & Documentary Studies Program at the International Center of Photography in 2012. She speaks fluent French and is working to improve her family's native language, Spanish. Travis Bell has been creating images professionally for over 20 years. He is an accomplished wedding, sports, editorial and production stills photographer. Bell worked at his hometown newspaper, The Lancaster(SC) News, The Rock Hill(SC) Herald and at The State Media Co. While at The News, The Herald and The State, he received more than 50 photography awards through the S.C. News Photographers Association and the S.C. Press Association. He served as a staff photographer at the South Carolina statehouse for two years before launching his own business in 2001. Assignments have included photographing the NCAA Final Four, NFL and NBA playoffs and the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. I started working as a crime reporter in Rome, Italy, more than 10 years ago. Then I moved to Milan where I was a staff writer at Mediaset and then at Corriere della Sera, the largest daily in Italy. In the seven years I worked at the newspaper I was first covering education for the metro section. When I moved to the online section I covered breaking news as well as social conflict and riots in Italy and Europe. I also reported from Iran and Cuba. In 2013 I produced an award winning documentary Capulcu Voices from Gezi about the protest in Istanbul in Turkey. Also in 2013 I won a full scholarship to attend the MA in Journalism concentration Politics at Columbia University. I graduated in May 2014. Jonathan Isaac Jackson is a Managing Partner at The Colored Section, along with Philip Williamson Jr. The Colored Section is a Creative Agency and Independent Film Production Company based in New Orleans and Philadelphia, specializing in creating short form content and films, independently distributing them internationally through streaming sites like REVRY and Amazon. The Colored Section has had films selected and screened in The New Orleans Film Festival (2014-2019), PBS Online Film Festival (2016), San Francisco Black Film Festival (2017), and the New York Film Festival (2017), among many others. Mr. Jackson was selected for The New Orleans Film Festivals inaugural "Emerging Voices" program, sponsored by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2014. In the program, Jonathan was mentored by Emmy Award nominated and Peabody Award winning director/producer Dawn Porter, who's films include documentary's "Gideon's Army" (HBO), "Spies Of Mississippi" (PBS), and "Trapped" (Sundance). Jonathan was also selected into the Top 200 in HBO's "Project Greenlight", as well as Top 3 in 2016's PBS Online Film Festival for his film "Greenlight", which made it's official world premiere "in competition" at The New Orleans Film Festival 2015. Jonathan and Philip were 2016 and 2017 Magnifying Glass Grant Award Winners for "After Claudetteia" and "The Fire Next Time...", as well as winners of the Princeton Tiger Award in 2018. Their films have screened all over the US, as well as internationally. In 2019, Jonathan released his sci-fi short “the girl And her Electric Sheep”, as well as “mor-Ale”, a web series he produced with Philip in Philadelphia. Jonathan also directed 6 music videos for music artist PERK that were shot in New Orleans, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas, and ended the year with a short documentary called "Chief Black Hawk". In 2020, Jonathan looks to complete his first two features, a horror/fantasy called "The Necromancer", and a feature documentary based off of his short "Chief Black Hawk" about the history of Mardi Gras Masking in New Orleans.
