I'm a reporter, writer, and editor specializing in healthcare and science. My passion is capturing the voices of researchers, patients and caregivers. I tell stories that show why the wonky stuff matters. As a former reporter and editorial writer at the Los Angeles Times, I wrote about malaria in East Africa and the twin epidemics of obesity and diabetes in East LA. My editorials were part of a 2005 Pulitzer Prize-winning series on mismanagement, malpractice and racial injustice at a public hospital. I was a Knight-Science Journalism Fellow at MIT and studied climate change as a journalism fellow at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, Mass., and at Toolik Lake Field Station in Alaska's Brooks Range. Nawang Tsering Gurung is a consultant, translator, speaker, and tour specialist originally from the Himalayan region of Mustang in Nepal and now based in New York City. Nawang is the founder and coordinator of the oral history project Voices of the Himalayas: Language, Culture and Belonging in Immigrant New York, which has been documenting the languages, cultures, social histories, folklore and community life of Himalayan New Yorkers. He is also founder and director of Yulha Fund, a non-profit dedicated to ensuring sustainable livelihoods and improving access to education and healthcare in the Himalayan communities of Nepal. Nawang served as a translator and assistant on the National Geographic documentaries “Himalayan Megaquake” and “Cave People of the Himalayas.” He also has extensive experiences as a research assistant for Sienna Craig, an anthropologist at Dartmouth College, working in both Mustang and New York. He is the co-author on several presentations and publications based on this work and co-author of the book “Dogyab: Rituel Tibetain de Conjuration du Mal” (in French), a study of Bön religion in Nepal.

Savannah Bloch is an American/South African filmmaker and graduate of the USC School of Cinematic Arts. Her feature film directorial debut, And Then There Was Eve, won a 2017 Jury Award at the Los Angeles Film Festival and opened numerous Women’s Film Festivals across the U.S. As a digital producer/cinematographer, Savannah created 50+ mini-documentaries for Hearst Digital Media and over 300 videos for medical education. Shooting documentary footage of Chinese neocolonialism in Nicaragua, the eviscerating impact of shrapnel on Syrian refugees and rural surgery in remote Bolivia have reshaped her view of the world and unearthed more questions. As a cinematographer, Savannah shot the award-winning feature film, Quality Problems and has worked with brands such as Us Weekly, Popsugar, TLC, and Netflix. Savannah studied stage directing in NYC at The Barrow Group and afterwards honed her skills as an actor’s director in two plays. One is a dark comedy about a dysfunctional family and the second probes the post-9/11 Sikh experience. Currently, Savannah is in post-production on an Irish music documentary. Savannah runs a weekly director’s workshop in Hollywood called The Sandbox and teaches cinematography at USC. Her passions include social innovation, feminism, surfing and veganism.

Gabriella A. Moses is an award-winning director, writer, and production designer based in Brooklyn, NY. She is a graduate of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. Her latest short films Sticky Fingers and Leche are currently playing the festival circuit. Her award-winning thesis film Las Mañanitas has played at numerous international film festivals winning Best Ensemble Cast, Production Design and Score at NYU's First Run Film Festival and Best Film at the Katra Film Fest Series. William Thomas Cain is a professional photojournalist whose body of work spans from editorial to commercial in his 30 years of experience. He accredits his diverse background to his extensive education at Philadelphia’s University of the Arts. While completing 4 years at the university, in 1987 Mr. Cain earned a bachelor of fine arts degree in illustration with a minor in photography. Upon his graduation William Thomas Cain began work at the Philadelphia Inquirer until 1999. While there he perfected the fine art of photojournalism by juxtaposing graphic illustrative concepts with editorial imagery. Naima Ramos-Chapman is from Brooklyn, New York. Currently a Writer & Director on the critically-acclaimed HBO series, Random Acts of Flyness, Ramos-Chapman makes movement with body, word, image, silence, sound, and technology, that tell stories of transformation and understated bravery. Her stories stem from true events, incorporate magical realism, and seek to render psycho-spiritual realities we cannot see and juxtaposes them alongside the brutal mundanities of everyday life. Her first short, AND NOTHING HAPPENED, explores the psychological aftermath of sexualized violence and premiered at the 2016 Slamdance Film Festival and screened in both national and international competitions. She was awarded Best Director of a Short Narrative at the Tacoma Film Festival, was a Sundance Institute 2017 Fellow, was an Artist-in-Residence for a Narrative Filmmaking Lab at Reel Works Teen Filmmaking for at-risk youth living in New York City, and co-facilitated a Virtual Reality Intensive for the School of Making Thinking. Her second short film, PIU PIU, is a surrealist thriller making its film festival rounds. It premiered at Blackstar Film Festival in 2018, won its first award—for best cinematography—at Tacoma Film Festival, and screening at Slamdance Film Festival in 2019 so far. Naima trained at the following institutions: The Alvin Ailey School for Dance, The Barrow Group for Acting, Howard University and Brooklyn College (CUNY) where she holds a B.A. in Journalism. Fred Greaves is an editorial and commercial photographer based in Sacramento, California. Fred has a well-documented talent for telling his clients' stories with the camera. I’m a Venezuelan citizen with permanent residence in the United States. I have a degree in Communication Studies and my work experience has been between editing and producing Spanish content for different media platforms and editorial coordination. I have worked for television channels, cultural institutions, non-profit citizen organizations and digital media. With coverage of different topics like technology, health, immigration, environment, culture, communities, competitiveness and show biz. Always linked with Spanish content editing. Recently, I have been working for Univision as a multimarket digital journalist (freelance), in projects such as the search engine for Puerto Rico, data research for "Life in the eye of the hurricane", 10 scripts and 24 text-cards for the social media campaign of the book: "Immigration: The new rules" and the production of articles about technology for "Privacy not included" campaign, in partnership with Mozilla Foundation. I am currently writing and editing Spanish content for local audiences. I'm not fully bilingual, but I'm getting ready to be. In editorial experiences, I was on the coordination team of the “Atlas Práctico de Venezuela”, a collectible issues published by the newspaper “El Nacional”, which was recognized by the “Monseñor Pellín” prize as "Editorial Effort of the Year". For 4 years I worked as a consultant and researcher of successful institutions. Seth Herald (b.1991) is a photojournalist who is currently based in Nashville, Tennessee. He has worked across the United States covering national news events, protests, politics, and daily life. Jim Vondruska (b. 1989) has been working as a freelance photographer/photojournalist since 2013. Born and raised on the west side of Chicago, Jim saw first-hand the corruption and associated trauma that persists still today within the United States’ third largest city. This circumstantial introduction sparked his initial interest into researching and understanding the underlying issues surrounding conflict and its victims. More importantly, it invoked his personal emotional connection to them. With no traditional schooling in photography he dropped out of college and quit his job to pursue his dream of being a photographer. Over time, he began to craft his unique style of shooting and found joy in showing life at its most intimate and unadulterated form through photography. He has since discovered love with this form of work and a passion in telling stories whether they come from conflict zones, everyday life, or simply a brief glimpse into someone’s day.

I like weird people and weird people like me. I am a multi-platform reporter with a passion for visuals. I came into journalism through photography, where I am well versed in breaking news, long-term features, portraiture and pretty much everything in between. Starting in 2013 I began translating that experience into videos; both documentary style longer pieces and short, punchy, social media-friendly vignettes. Oh, and I write. Jeremy Wade Shockley (b. 1977) is an award winning photojournalist and self-taught photographer who has been exploring foreign lands and cultures from an early age. He first picked up a camera while serving an architectural internship in the Colonial city of Cuenca, Ecuador. This immediately developed into a passion for documenting the world around him. Jeremy returned to the United States in order to finish a degree in architecture at the University of Colorado. Shortly thereafter, he embarked on a two year Peace Corps assignment in the Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho. In addition to continuing his work in Latin America and Africa, Jeremy has been documenting the American West for more than a decade. He worked on staff as a photojournalist for the Southern Ute Indian Tribe from 2008-2013. Pete Kiehart is a visual journalist based in Washington, DC. His interests include a diverse array of topics - he’s covered the war in Donbas and Europe’s refugee crisis, as well as the Tour de France and the African Nations Championship. Previously, he worked for The San Francisco Chronicle, where he was a visuals editor and photographer. In addition to working regularly as a photojournalist and portrait photographer, Pete also has experience with videography and video production, as well as writing and designing.
