I’m passionate about what I do. What I do best is tell a good story; it’s who I am. I’ve been working with companies, in the PNW, producing stories ranging from brand storytelling about specialty coffees to profiles of young women seeking advice from their mentors. I bring three things to the job: Directing, shooting, editing, and producing content for broadcast and web Experience in corporate brand storytelling for companies like Microsoft, Concur and Expedia working with internal and external partners at various levels including C level executives. Proven success of storytelling for Starbucks and BECU working with creative teams at HQ and with partners in the field. This experience has taught me to be flexible on any type of assignment, interact with team members, and deliver quality work. My passion is visual storytelling. No matter how big or small it may be. Whether that means shooting content about coffee, or editing a sizzle reel for Microsoft. Creating compelling stories that impact a business is what I strive to achieve on every project.

I'm a filmmaker and video producer currently working for Grist, a Seattle-based media non-profit that focuses on environmental news and commentary. My focus is on social issues and its intersection with a wide range of topics like the environment, food, justice, immigration, culture, gender and race. Having reported from India, Singapore, South Africa and now the U.S., I strive to bring different and underrepresented perspectives to the fore. My stories are predominantly character-driven, using one compelling voice to paint a larger picture. Prior to Grist, I was an intern at Vox.com, where I produced videos for their politics and social team. I'm a recent graduate of Medill, Northwestern University, with a master's in journalism. My focus was on documentary filmmaking and web videos. Apart from my work at Medill, I've shot and edited a 3-part series with three others in Johannesburg, South Africa, on the two waves of Chinese immigrants to the country and the issues they face. I have also freelanced for various organizations, including DNAInfo Chicago, BuzzFeed, Christian Science Monitor and Brown Girl magazine.

Jesse Andrew Clark has spent the past fourteen years honing his visual style in cinematography. Both a creative force and technical mastermind behind the camera, Jesse has taught filmmaking workshops in northern and central California, including the Esalen Institute and UC Berkeley. Jesse has worked with Sundance-winning director Frederick Marx in honing his new feature film as well as National Geographic stereographer Peter Chang in order to hone his timelapse technique. In addition, Jesse has produced big-brand event content (Facebook, Instagram, Samsung, Whole Foods) and thus brings with him an understanding of 'getting the shot' under changing conditions. Although most comfortable behind the camera, Jesse isn't hesitant to get his hands dirty when someone needs a hand. He specializes in motion-control timelapse 4K imaging & post-production and also is an editor, colorist, and motion graphic artist. His true passion lies in service of story through moving picture.

I am an EMMY Award-Winning video journalist with more than 34 years experience in television news production, television news management, public relations and marketing video production. I feel this unique blend of creative experience and talent will stand me in good stead serving in the position for which I am applying. Utilizing my degree in Journalism, I began my television news career on-air as a reporter/photographer for various local television news operations in Oklahoma and Texas, then transitioned to full-time news photographer at KUSA-TV in Denver, Colorado. With that experience behind me, I developed into as good a writer and producer as I am a shooter and editor. In short, I am truly, that consummate one-man-band you keep hearing about in an era when downsizing in the television industry is a common trend. The EMMY I won for WTNH-TV in New Haven, was also for my writing and producing as as well as for for my shooting and editing! That EMMY was the only one earned by the television news operation that year! I am open to pursuing stories of any genre - news, feature, political, sports and more!

With work at nearly 1 million views, I seek to create irresistible invitations with compelling and empowering imagery to inspire people into new possibilities in their body, their communities and the caring for their world. I'm also a lecturer at the University of Washington on narrative and filmmaking in the College of Human Centered Design. From crossing the Caribbean Sea by yacht, to backpacking Central America while getting my Spanish corrected, to taking divers into Hawaiian lava tubes, to climbing Mt. Rainier, I've been lucky to experience discovery by captaining teams of adventurers. Working with a production team that shares a creative vision is a natural extension of adventure and discovery. Being on-location, on-set and on-point is where I'm delighted, curious and focused. I live a short walk to the salt water of Puget Sound, and a short drive to the forests of the Cascade Mountains in Seattle, Washington with the greatest adventure of my life, my family: Laura, my wife and our sons, Seamus & Barrett.

Ill be the first to admit my carbon footprint is way too big for someone worried about the fate of the global environment. Yet I believe there's no more important story, now or at any time in my life. That's why I'm a board member of the Society of Environmental Journalists, and why I'm writing a nonfiction book about climate change and social change I'm working on. Climate change and the environment stories can be both compelling and beautiful, and they're the ultimate people stories. I've covered the environment, business & politics long enough to snag three Emmys, an Edward R. Murrow award and a Columbia-duPont silver baton. While I've spent most of my career as a writer, reporter, and producer, I've starting doing my own shooting and editing. I'm still working to get steady handheld, but my eye is pretty good. I became a multimedia journalist long before it was trendy. You might've heard me on Marketplace Radio, seen my work on PBS History Detectives, and read it in everything from The Village Voice to Rupert Murdochs Boston Herald. Over the last decade, I've moved from local to national, and breaking news to documentaries.

Most of my films have revolved around travel pieces, both long and short form. I also have experience as a journalist, my main beat being the U.S. military. My work has taken me across the world. I am adept at working in difficult environments as well as foreseeing problems so to avoid them. I also have become skilled at finding solutions to problems that turn out to be unavoidable (that's usually where the story is). When you work in "out there" places like Tibet, Xinjiang, eastern China, Iraq, Iran, India, Mongolia, Thailand, Alaska, etc. you cannot successfully complete your work without these skills. I love telling, or better said, showing stories that help people connect with another part of the world or another way of life. Capturing people out of their comfort zone is where self-learning happens and makes for great film. I speak English, Spanish and Chinese.

My name's Cooper Howard. I currently live in Portland, Oregon and have been working as a freelance videographer and editor since 2014. I moved up to Portland after earning a degree in new media communications from Oregon State University. I love what I do for a lot of reasons, but mostly because it allows me to learn and experience new things that I may not otherwise be able to. From small projects with friends to large commercial productions, I always have a blast creating new pieces.
