I'm a filmmaker and video producer currently working for Grist, a Seattle-based media non-profit that focuses on environmental news and commentary. My focus is on social issues and its intersection with a wide range of topics like the environment, food, justice, immigration, culture, gender and race. Having reported from India, Singapore, South Africa and now the U.S., I strive to bring different and underrepresented perspectives to the fore. My stories are predominantly character-driven, using one compelling voice to paint a larger picture. Prior to Grist, I was an intern at Vox.com, where I produced videos for their politics and social team. I'm a recent graduate of Medill, Northwestern University, with a master's in journalism. Kent Truog is a freelance multimedia producer and photographer whose work focuses on issues of conservation, social justice, and cultural preservation. He was a producer on MTV Exit's human trafficking documentary series, is a regular contributor at the World Wildlife Fund, and has partnered with numerous international NGOs to further their philanthropic mission through creative storytelling. Kent is a strong believer in collaboration and hopes his work draws attention to marginalized populations throughout the world. Some of his past projects have involved telling the stories of young women on the verge of aging out of an orphanage in Honduras, gender empowerment through coffee farming in Kenya, critically endangered dolphins in the Mekong River, and most recently he supported a first response unit as a photographer to document the immediate aftermath of those affected by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. Jesse Andrew Clark has spent the past fourteen years honing his visual style in cinematography. Both a creative force and technical mastermind behind the camera, Jesse has taught filmmaking workshops in northern and central California, including the Esalen Institute and UC Berkeley. Jesse has worked with Sundance-winning director Frederick Marx in honing his new feature film as well as National Geographic stereographer Peter Chang in order to hone his timelapse technique. In addition, Jesse has produced big-brand event content (Facebook, Instagram, Samsung, Whole Foods) and thus brings with him an understanding of 'getting the shot' under changing conditions. Although most comfortable behind the camera, Jesse isn't hesitant to get his hands dirty when someone needs a hand. Ill be the first to admit my carbon footprint is way too big for someone worried about the fate of the global environment. Yet I believe there's no more important story, now or at any time in my life. That's why I'm a board member of the Society of Environmental Journalists, and why I'm writing a nonfiction book about climate change and social change I'm working on. Climate change and the environment stories can be both compelling and beautiful, and they're the ultimate people stories. I've covered the environment, business & politics long enough to snag three Emmys, an Edward R. Murrow award and a Columbia-duPont silver baton. While I've spent most of my career as a writer, reporter, and producer, I've starting doing my own shooting and editing. I'm still working to get steady handheld, but my eye is pretty good. I became a multimedia journalist long before it was trendy. You might've heard me on Marketplace Radio, seen my work on PBS History Detectives, and read it in everything from The Village Voice to Rupert Murdochs Boston Herald. Over the last decade, I've moved from local to national, and breaking news to documentaries.

Most of my films have revolved around travel pieces, both long and short form. I also have experience as a journalist, my main beat being the U.S. military. My work has taken me across the world. I am adept at working in difficult environments as well as foreseeing problems so to avoid them. I also have become skilled at finding solutions to problems that turn out to be unavoidable (that's usually where the story is). When you work in "out there" places like Tibet, Xinjiang, eastern China, Iraq, Iran, India, Mongolia, Thailand, Alaska, etc. you cannot successfully complete your work without these skills. I love telling, or better said, showing stories that help people connect with another part of the world or another way of life.
