Deborah Wong is a video journalist in New York City. Steph and Ellen (SE Productions) co-directed and produced AFTER SPRING, a feature documentary about the Syrian refugee crisis. The award winning film was Executive Produced by Jon Stewart and premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2016. It has since screened at over 50 film festivals in 15 countries. AFTER SPRING premiered on STARZ in February 2017. Ellen and Steph are recipients of the Frontline Award for excellent in documentary journalism and are MacArthur foundation grantees. They are experienced in international production and received exclusive access to film AFTER SPRING in the Zaatari Refugee Camp in Jordan, 7 miles from the Syrian border. Natalie Abruzzo is a TV reporter, multi-media journalist and filmmaker in New York. She recently earned her master’s degree at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism where she studied broadcast journalism with a concentration in health and science. Kwame Rose is a social activist, writer, and artist. Rose gained notoriety during the Baltimore Uprising for his confrontation with Fox News reporter Geraldo Rivera, challenging the media's representation of protestors after Freddie Gray's death. Hi there, I'm Tamer Shaaban. I am a Filmmaker and a UX Designer. The cross between technology and film is what keeps me up at night. I believe the two have the power to reach global audiences, aid in education, and improve lives in even the most remote regions of our planet. Beatrice Katcher is a visual journalist who enjoys covering public health, technology, music, art and culture. She is an experienced photojournalist, writer, social media manager and web content producer. A native Detroiter, she received a BA in Journalism Honors from Wayne State University, and her undergraduate senior honors thesis was a multimedia project that focused on food security in Detroit. Her love of dynamic storytelling is why she is studying multimedia at UC Berkeleys Graduate School of Journalism. Beatrice enjoys traveling and recently studied art and architecture in France. I am the mother a teacher and a writer. I began telling stories through documentary film in 2006 after winning the BET Black AIDS Institute RAP IT UP Screenwriting Competition with a story about how AIDS affected a black church. I look for the obvious stereotype and try to understand it from a different perspective. My films have studied how the words we use create conflict or compassion in our communities, and examined whether streets named after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. reflect his dream. I am currently developing a documentary about Individualized Educational Plans (IEP) and the Special Education system. I am applying to pitch a story to POV's Documentary Short call about Black Male Achievement.

My name is Madina Toure and I received my master's degree in magazine, newspaper and online journalism at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. I received my bachelor's degree in political science and French at Barnard College in New York City. As an individual with familial ties to the French-speaking world, I hope to report on political and social issues pertaining to minority groups, especially Black and Arab, in France, as well as present-day Francophone countries in Africa. I also have a strong interest in community and ethnic media. However, my overall goal as a reporter is to highlight social minorities and provide a platform for people, ideas and perspectives that are not covered sufficiently by mainstream media.

I am a young documentary filmmaker currently living in New York City. I recently completed a film called Joes Dairy about a storefront shop in Soho which made mozzarella cheese by hand for over 40 years. The documentary highlights how even though the neighborhood has changed, the two brothers that owned it remained a constant presence, and gained the respect of everyone who encountered them. I have also worked in the film and television industry for the last few years, on various big budget shows including Orange is the New Black and Boardwalk Empire. I enjoy telling stories about people who struggle day in and day out, but whose voices may never be heard. I hope to bring many different voices to Storyhunters. There are great stories out there waiting to be revealed.

I spent over ten years on staff at Comedy Central, where I was nominated for Emmy Awards in 2009 and 2010 for the web series The Daily Show: Ask a Correspondent. RAVA Films is a team of two filmmakers: Rafael Salazar and Ava Wiland. We've been working together for over three years directing/producing, shooting and editing documentary films and documentary-style branded and promotional videos for a broad range of non-profit organizations and government institutions such as The U.S. Department of State, The Bronx Museum, Art21 and TATE. Emmanuel Benhamou has worked with grassroots civil rights activists in the Middle East for over a decade. He studied the region in graduate school at Georgetown's School of Foreign Service, and pursued policy work at the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Department of Defense. Yet when uprisings emerged across the Arab world, he decided his time and energies would better be spent outside of government, pursuing an independent project. In summer of 2012, Emmanuel Benhamou recruited a liberal Syrian dissident, Ammar Abdulhamid, and a fellow filmmaker, Larry Herskowitz, to travel to the region with him. Together they set out to give an activist's perspective on the tragedy unfolding in Syria.

I'm a documentary filmmaker and journalist focused on telling character driven, personal stories that illuminate a universal social or political issue. I've tended to focus on Latin America, and have worked for Al Jazeera, Dateline NBC, Current TV and VPro. I'm a competent researcher, producer, cameraman, editor, still photographer and writer. Nothing makes me happier than taking a camera into a hard-to-access situation. So far that has included crack houses and sweatshops in Argentina, mail order bride agencies and guerilla organizations in Colombia, and meetings with hit men and scam artists across the US. I'm currently in post production on 2 long form documentaries of my own and until recently was an AP at Dateline NBC.
