I am a versatile video producer and am interested in telling stories of all kinds. My career has focused on environmental and sustainable development stories and most of my clients are non-profit organizations. As an Associate Producer for Streetfilms, I produced dozens of videos about sustainable transportation and implemented innovative web features. As an independent producer, my clients have included PeopleForBikes, the New York City Department of Transportation, Project for Public Spaces, Institute for Transportation Development and Policy and Smart Growth America. I am also a Digital Editor with the IISD Reporting Services where I cover environment and development stories all over the world. Ill be the first to admit my carbon footprint is way too big for someone worried about the fate of the global environment. Yet I believe there's no more important story, now or at any time in my life. That's why I'm a board member of the Society of Environmental Journalists, and why I'm writing a nonfiction book about climate change and social change I'm working on. Climate change and the environment stories can be both compelling and beautiful, and they're the ultimate people stories. I've covered the environment, business & politics long enough to snag three Emmys, an Edward R. Murrow award and a Columbia-duPont silver baton. While I've spent most of my career as a writer, reporter, and producer, I've starting doing my own shooting and editing. I'm still working to get steady handheld, but my eye is pretty good. I became a multimedia journalist long before it was trendy. You might've heard me on Marketplace Radio, seen my work on PBS History Detectives, and read it in everything from The Village Voice to Rupert Murdochs Boston Herald. Over the last decade, I've moved from local to national, and breaking news to documentaries.

Inspired to make a difference in the lives of others, and to be the voice for the voiceless, Roxanna chose to pursue a career in journalism. After graduating from University of Florida, Roxanna worked her way up TV markets starting with WCTV (Tallahassee), then KCCI (Des Moines), WGHP (Winston-Salem/High Point/Greensboro), and recently WKRN (Nashville). In 2009, Roxanna won an Associated Press Award for her story about homeless people living in the woods. She then volunteered with a local homeless outreach program to help find homes for the people featured in the story. While reporting at the 2008 Iowa Caucus, she had the opportunity to interview the presidential candidates including current President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden. As a freelance entertainment reporter, she can be seen chatting with country music stars on AXS-TV. Roxanna also recently received her certification in meteorology from Mississippi State University. I am a journalist who has worked in the field of print, documentary and multimedia journalism for over ten years. My work has appeared in the New York Times, the Tico Times, the International Herald Tribune and the Chicago Tribune. And my production work has aired on the History Channel, the Weather Channel, the Outdoor Life Network and PBS. As a print journalist and documentary field producer and reporter, I have a commitment to get every angle of the story by finding the people, places and nuances that matter to help to bring a story to life for the reader or viewer. My proudest accomplishment to date is creating the Through Her Eyes Project, a multimedia project that captures and showcases the stories of girls and women who play sports in the developing world.  I started the project in Ecuador where I interviewed over 100 female athletes of every skill level and photographed and filmed them on courts, fields and streets across the country to demonstrate the benefits that women in developing countries gain from involvement in sports.  In 2012, I was named a Woman of Promise by the YWCA Evanston, and was profiled as a Woman Working To Do Good by the White House.

I come from a background of print journalism but took up the video camera 10 years ago with a digital filmmaking course at The New York Film Academy. I have done numerous freelance projects--a piece for Eliminate Poverty Now about an innovative school lifting children out of Kenya's largest slum; a two-part series for a Gates Foundation project to vastly improve soil information in Africa; and others. Recently I completed a 90-minute documentary--a story of cross-continental adventure, goodwill outreach, and the triumph of commitment in the face of extreme adversity--that is an official selection of The Oaxaca FilmFest and The NYC Independent Film Festival. I like to find voices that are underrepresented in the mainstream media. I also like to bring to light interesting work at which people are toiling away in obscurity, and render it accessible and engaging. Who's trying to solar panel Harlem's rooftops? Who's at the controls when a heatwave pushes NYC near blackout? What's it like to be a teenager in a housing project when gentrifcation is closing in? I believe in approaching subjects without judgment and keeping an eye out for the moment that illuminates humanity.

Hello! My name is Justin McCallum and I'm a young, award-winning documentary film-maker and photojournalist who recently relocated to New York City after graduating from Tufts University. As a student of social justice, the stories that I feel most drawn to are those of structural violence and personal empowerment. I find narrative storytelling to be an effective way to report on pressing issues while maintaining impartiality and journalistic integrity. This is most greatly reflected by my long-form project 'The New Nuclear Family,' which follows four sets of LGBT parents over two years revealing the unique discrimination they face. I honed my skills under the guidance of visual storytellers including VII Photo Agencys founder Gary Knight, fine art photographers at the School for the Museum of Fine Arts, and multimedia journalists from The Boston Globe. Through this, I've been extensively trained in visual reporting and composition in addition to technical shooting and editing. I would be thrilled to join the diverse group of reporters and documentarians at Storyhunter to learn and grow as well as contribute ideas and my expertise.

Eric Paternot is an independent producer with a passion for storytelling. He comes from the world of journalism and has worked for ABC News, The New York Times, France Television, and independent production companies around the world. Eric is a graduate of Harvard University, where he majored in government and Islamic studies. He began his pursuit of storytelling as an executive producer and president of Harvard Undergraduate Television. In 2009, he was the recipient of a George Peabody Gardner Fellowship, which he used to write, shoot, and edit a documentary covering the rise and fall of Bhutan's first bodybuilding champion. Eric then pursued a dual degree in journalism at Columbia's Journalism School in New York and Sciences Po's Journalism School in Paris. There, he polished his narrative and reporting skills while integrating them with digital tools. Eric loves powder skiing, the great outdoors, adventure, and historical fictions.

I am a multimedia communicator who is deeply interested in, engaged in and committed to my community. I like to write and talk to people. The thing I miss most about being in a newsroom everyday is the breaking news. I currently work with nonprofits on communications, marketing and engagement. The stories I'm most interested in hunting and sharing are about: the impact and causes of poverty; weird people who do interesting things; kickass women and young people; and how things work/are made. One of my goals is to own a pair of glasses someday that have a camera and microphone hidden in them so that I can share all of the awesome stuff I see. In the meantime, I try to always have some sort of video device on me. I learned documentary-style shooting, writing and editing at NYU's graduate program for documentary filmmaking. Since then, I have started experimenting with ways to use editing, graphics and animation to supplement storytelling. These are tools I hope to use in an upcoming documentary that I want to produce about the impact of incarceration on women and girls. Thank you for your time.

My reasoning and writing skills allow to craft a narrative and tell a conceptual story in preproduction. my experience in DSLR filmmaking and training in cinematography/photography make a creative filmmaker, focusing on provoking angles and shots. I have a strong proficiency in non-linear editing software (Apple FCP and Adobe Premiere) as well as animation and compositing programs such as Adobe After Effects. After graduating from USC with a degree in business and cinema, Chris' film career has taken him from the depths of agency work, to coordinating post-production for awful American movies seen late at night in Belgium. His film directing and producing work has resulted in him criss crossing the country with the aid of caffeinated beverages. He eventually made his way in the Nashville country and Christian music video industries, before finally forsaking his soul to commercial LA rock n' roll. These misadventures eventually culminated in him winning a Billboard Magazine Music Video Award. With the success of his theatrically released feature documentaries, PLAGUES & PLEASURES ON THE SALTON SEA and EVERYDAY SUNSHINE: THE STORY OF FISHBONE , he has gone on to pursue other sub-cultural documentary subjects, including: rogue economists, lucha libre wrestlers, swamp rat hunters, ganjapreneurs, and evangelical Christian surfers.

I am submitting my work for consideration as a Video Journalist with Story Hunter. As a former stills photojournalist represented by Reportage by Getty Images, I have traveled extensively abroad, covering news and feature stories for a variety of domestic and international clients. I recently finished editing and directing a short documentary, ESCAPE, which has been selected in the United Nations Association Film Festival and has garnered awards in a few other festivals. In the last few years, I have made the transition from stills photography to video journalism. I'm a trained video journalist and writer with an eye for stories that resonate long after they air. Trained at Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism, I have work experience in both public radio (at WBEZ, Chicago's NPR station) and public TV (WTTW, Chicago's PBS station). I know how to field produce, as well as shoot and edit video. My passion lies in highly produced, long-form stories that expose viewers to worlds they wouldn't be able to access otherwise. I believe that the purpose of journalistic storytelling is not just to provide facts, but directly engage with a topic, a dialogue, a situation or event. Powerful journalism captures the varieties of human experience. The stories we are likely to see are not common to everyone they are resolutely, bracingly different and unique. The more that we read, see, and hear, the more we realize our many-leveled interconnection with the world around us. I am applying to be a Storyhunter because I am particularly interested in documenting and promoting stories that strive to speak about the immigrant experience, labor, and education in the US. Two fundamental personal experiences have guided me in my focus. Firstly, having been an immigrant myself, separated from my home country and immediate family by political and economic reasons, I am galvanized by the issues and themes surrounding immigration, the struggle of assimilation (or the lack thereof), immigrant labor, and education. Having also been an educator in the public schools, it is this issue of education that provides a prism that both reflects and refracts many of the most challenging issues facing this country.

I believe that the video storytelling is one of the few educational tools that can inform a global network of individuals, regardless of their socioeconomic backgrounds. Visual storytelling is an investment in our lives and aids in the preservation of our future. As Walter Cronkite once remarked about journalists, Our job is only to hold up the mirror, to tell and show the public what has happened.  It should be the personal mission of journalists to educate the public, as it promotes modernization, tolerance and enlightenment by holding the small percentage of those in power accountable for their actions. I would like the opportunity to do this through visual storytelling. I am currently in post-production with my own documentary, which follows the story of a man and a transgender woman who were released directly from solitary confinement back into their communities without going through any societal reintegration programs. I enjoy hunting stories about people. People are the vehicle who lead me in the hunt about environmental topics, politics, human rights and advocacy.

I'm a multimedia journalist and video producer living in New York. I recently graduated from Columbia Journalism School in Broadcast Journalism, where I produced a number of videos ranging from two-minute news pieces to an 8-minute mini-documentary. I love telling stories that involve identity, culture, religion, and human rights. For my Master's Project at Columbia, I looked at Sikh-American activism in New York and New Jersey. For the 8-minute video I produced, I followed a Sikh activist who educates people in schools, community centers and places of worship on Sikhism to combat ignorance and hate crimes. I also wrote a 5,000-word article on Sikh awareness initiatives and the experience of being Sikh in America. Before Columbia, I also reported for almost five months for the Tibet Post in India, an online newspaper that provides news on Tibetan issues and the Tibetan community in exile. I covered the inauguration of the Tibetan prime-minister in exile as well as several public speeches by the Dalai Lama. I also enjoy looking at subcultures--I produced two video stories on "preppers," people preparing for the end of the world, and one on professional stair climbers.

I film, edit, and produce. I am Co-Founder of Framing the Cause Pictures which produces documentary videos for international human rights, development, and social organizations. Recent clients include the United Nations, the Independent Inspection Panel of the World Bank, Aspen Institute, and the United Sates Institute of Peace. I have international filming experience in developing countries and marginalized communities in Mexico, Senegal, and Brazil. I spent three months in Brazil filming a documentary about the forced eviction and demolition of "slum" communities. I've worked on a youth media project teaching youth living in a "slum" how to produce a documentary about their lives, culture, community, and social issues they face. I also filmed for the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in Brazil. I bring a variety of experience to film making. With a BA in Anthropology and a MA in International Affairs and Media Studies, I was brought to the filed of documentary through a passion for how documentary stories have the power to connect strangers, to inspire curiosity and compassion, and to affect positive social change.
